OUR GOAL: EVANGELISM

Then he said to his disciples, ''The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the Harvest, therefore, to send workers into the harvest field."

OUR PURPOSE

The central purpose and duty of the Detroit's Afro-American Mission, Incorporated, is to proclaim the 'unsearchable riches' of the Lord Jesus Christ; to seek the salvation of the lost; to instruct believers in the Word of God; to conduct religious and Sunday School services at the Mission; to clothe, and help the needy; and to foster, promote and encourage general rescue mission work in whatever way the Board of Directors deem it necessary, in the City of Detroit and suburbs." Haman Cross, Sr., is also quoted in one of the videotapes as saying the mission is "reaching Afro-American families for Christ.

OUR DOCTRINAL STATEMENT

We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, the supernaturally given revelation without error or misstatement in its original documents and the supreme and final authority in faith and life.

We believe in one God: eternally existing in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, co-equal in power and glory, identical in their essential nature, attributes and perfectness, inexpressibly glorious in holiness, and worthy of all possible honor, confidence and love.

We believe that Jesus Christ was virgin born and is both true God and true man.

We believe in the essential personality and deity of the Holy Spirit.

We believe that man was created innocent and that in sinning, he brought both spiritual and physical death to himself and his posterity. But with the acceptance of Christ's sacrifice for sin, he is saved, being justified by faith in the shed blood of Jesus Christ; that all true believers are the sons and daughters of God. He has made provisions for sanctification, victory, and eternal security through faith in and obedience to Christ, Under the guidance and protection of the Holy Spirit, every believer is responsible to live in separation from all religious apostasy, worldly and sinful practices and witness by life and word to the saving power of Christ to all people.

We believe that the church is an elect company of believers, and Jesus Christ is its head. It had its earthly origin on the Day of Pentecost. Every believer, whether Jew or Gentile, from the Day of Pentecost to the time when Christ shall come in rapture for the church, are united by the Holy Spirit in this one body. Rising above all sectarian prejudice and denominational bigotry, believers are responsible to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. The hope of the Church is the translation of the saints, that is, our gathering together to him before the time of Great Tribulation.

We believe that the establishment and continuance of local churches is clearly taught and defined in the New Testament, and that fellowship in such churches is based upon a common faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior.

We believe in the dispensation, interpretation of the Word of God, but refuse that method of interpretation which opposes either the Lord's Supper or Water Baptism as a Scriptural means of testimony for the church in this dispensation.

We believe in the personality of Satan and that he is destined to eternal punishment in the lake of fire.

We believe that the Great Tribulation will follow the Rapture of the Church. This period of judgement will terminate in the visible return of the Lord Jesus to earth to subdue all of His enemies and set up His earthly kingdom. This is the hope of the world.

We believe that the redeemed of all time will enjoy eternal happiness with God in resurrected and glorified bodies.

We believe in the eternal conscious torment of the lost in a literal Hell, which place was prepared for the devil and his angels.
